State of the Workshop (Weirdshop) Address (1 Apr. 2025)
Greeting Humans and Other Entities,
My name is Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool), and welcome to my CREATIVE-SPACE-LOUNGE-EVIL-MAGICK-HAPPY-TECHNO-GOTH Adventure (Thru the POST-POST Universe).
I am one of those writer / artist / philosopher / editor / DJ / tech-hobbyist / postal art / poet / absurdist-dada-punk / archivist / lost-wanderer-guides that you've heard so much about on the inter-tubes. My PURPOSE is simple: Enjoy what time I have left (uncertain) with the people I care about (quite certain), while avoiding the BAD STUFF as much as possible. (The terms "bad" and "stuff" are up for debate, and I'm willing to have this debate live on camera, as long as I'm not under oath...)
This POST is important (to me.) I'm at one of those RECURSIVE MOMENTS, in which I look at what I've done, what I'm doing, and what I'm likely to do in the future, and see where I can focus my MENTAL ENERGY for maximum FUN!
BASIC PHILOSOPHY:
Is it FUN (and doesn't kill you very quickly), then it's cool. Is it NOT FUN? Then why the FLURK are you doing it!? (The answer better be good...)
MAKE ART (whatever way that ART feels best to you, as long as it doesn't kill you too quickly or hurt others who don't enjoy being hurt.)
When you're gone, you're gone, but the things you make and do leave RIPPLES in the UNIVERSE (like an exploding star) that can be HURTFUL or PLEASANT or INSPIRING or whatever, (so do "GOOD SHIT.") [The terms "good" and "shit" are up for debate, and I'm willing to have this debate live on camera...]
LEARN EMPATHY, but don't take shit. Money sucks, music is wonderful, and quality chocolate milkshakes are worth the effort to acquire and consume.
You WILL NOT REMEMBER forever. Make sure there is some kind of record or archive or memento or photo-album or diary entry or SOMETHING to prove it happened or existed or was cool or made an impact. (Don't let OTHERS try to make MEMORY obsolete or HISTORY into more of a fiction than it already is...)
DIGITAL is great for sharing, but absolute CRAP for ARCHIVING or PERMANENCE. Nothing lasts forever, and THINGS will come and go, but PHYSICAL IS SUPERIOR to digital when it comes to longevity. (If at all possible, use BOTH physical AND digital, and make copies of everything. REDUNDANCY is GREAT!)
NOBODY is going to tell YOUR STORY like YOU CAN. Make ripples in the fabric of the UNIVERSE. (WHILE YOU MAY...)

OBJKT
[Yes, it's a crypto/blockchain thing. NO, I'm not expecting anyone to BUY anything from here. In fact, there are a number of things that I've posted/hosted on OBJKT that aren't for sale at all (and never were.) Frankly, paying for online storage of images (as well as sound and video files) can QUICKLY become a massive expense, but with this site, it only costs me about a dime (or less) for each item I post. Sometimes, very rarely, but enough that it keeps me in the green, a person will drop a dollar or two on something I share there, and I'm able to share a bunch MORE stuff, without having to pay for gasoline to drive to a gallery in Olympia or ship a package for ridiculous amounts of dough. Say what you want about crypto, a distributed ledger with micro-transactions, and a built in audience, is a great way for an artist to share, experiment, and build a gallery. Don't believe me? [Still growing and developing. Not sure if this place would be for everyone, and it can get frustrating at times, but I still have online-peeps there that I like to keep in touch with! And FUCK Elon and X-itter.]

[My images on junk that most people probably don't need, like another MUG or a T-SHIRT or a stupid sticker. I occasionally buy a postcard or two off RedBubble, to support the indie artists, but - like OBJKT - it's primarily a site where I can share a bunch of artwork! Over 500 different images up on my gallery and counting!]
BLUESKY
[I think BlueSky is a bit more user friendly than Farcaster/Warpcast, and it doesn't require a crypto-wallet to use it, which is good. If I'm in a social media mood, this is one of the places I like to check out. And, again, FUCK Elon and X-itter.]
PEAKD / HIVE
[This is a blog site that I've been using since 2018! There is so much stuff on there, and I don't think anyone could read it all. That's not a challenge, by the way. It's just a fact. Good community. Very supportive alien folks there!]
HANGOUT.FM
[Still in progress, and I'm not sure if it will really stick, but this is where I've been sharing music lately (especially since 8-Tacks crapped out on me.) HANGOUT has chat features, allows up to four DJs at a time to take turns playing songs, and it has a cool, cartoony art style. Remember TURNTABLE.FM? This is what it's morphed into. Not as big as it was, but it might be a fun place, if we could come up with a SCHEDULE, so everyone knew when peeps iz gonna be there!!!]

That's what we've got going at the moment. One of these days, pretty soon, I'm going to attempt to compile a GIGANTIC links list that contains whatever online stuff of mine that I can still find. (It's a terribly dull and narcissistic idea, but who else is gonna do it if I don't??? Nobody, that's who!!! So keep your peepers peeled! And thanks for stopping by!
